"Evening Tranquility" by Joen Wolfrom

In "Evening Tranquility" (1985), Joen randomly changed the sky colors, both vertically and horizontally, to create an emotive, abstract style. She used narrow strips to increase color movement, and placed white fabrics in the water for a feeling of turbulence. Although they don't show in this photo, the quilting lines change direction in the water. This quilt is pictured in Landscapes & Illusions: Creating Scenic Imagery with Fabric. Photo by Ken Wagner.
