  Paula pieced "Kaleidoscopic XI: Snowfall" (63.5 by 60 inches, 1993) by machine from cotton, cotton-blend, and silk fabrics, then quilted it by hand. Her intent was to translate in fabric a series of photomicrographs made in the early 1930s and originally published by the American Meteorological Society.
