"Illusions in Blue and Purple" by Terrell Sundermann

"Illusions in Blue and Purple" (87 by 94 inches, 1997) covers a sliding patio door. Although the shade is backed by special fabric to prevent damage from the sun's ultraviolet rays, some light does come through, making the hanging look like stained glass. It's critical that all seam allowances be trimmed evenly and pressed in the right directions, because they form the "leaded" look. Complete instructions for making an "Illusions" window hanging are included in Terrell's book, Pieced Roman Shades: Turn Your Favorite Quilt Patterns into Window Hangings (C&T Publishing, 2000).
