DO YOUR QUILTS TELL STORIES?

The Page-Walker Arts & History Center in Cary, North Carolina, is looking for story-telling quilts Art Quilts: Narrative Form, an exhibition scheduled for May 4 through 30, 2001.

The story represented by the quilt may be realistic, pictoral, symbolic, or hidden in the abstract design of the piece.

If you're an art quilter from North Carolina or a surrounding state, you may submit up to 12 labeled slides, a resume, and a self-address, stamped envelope by January 31, 2001. Please include a written narrative of up to 200 words describing each quilt you intend to submit.

You can request an entry form by telephoning 919-460-4963, e-mailing amywinsor@juno.com, or writing to Sara Maultsby, Page-Walker Arts & History Center, 119 Ambassador Loop, Cary, NC 27512-8005.

Margaret Montague Geldart of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, made "Measure Up" in the mid-1980s, based on a picture given to her by her mother. Meant to appeal to several small relatives, it tells the story of a little giraffe who learns to value his own special attributes and abilities.
