JUDY
MARTIN'S QUILT SHOW
Judy Martin is a prolific author and designer who has invented
five quilting tools and contributed more than 635 original designs
to the world quilt repertoire. She enjoys creating original works
that carry forward the traditions of quiltmaking.
Judy usually works with repeating blocks or with medallion formats,
as quilters have done for 200 years. Her block designs stretch tradition
in the details more than in the overall effect. She often arranges
her blocks in rhythmic sets with new twists. Her work clearly shows
a familiarity with and appreciation for traditional quilts, while
exhibiting a playfulness and a creative spark.
Through her books, Judy aims to help quilters improve their craft
and expand their horizons, not just complete their current projects.
Her latest book, The Creative Pattern Book, combines complete
patterns with a primer on the creative process that allows quiltmakers
to carry the book's patterns further, if they so desire.
You'll find instructions for the quilts in this online show in
Judy's books, available in
the SewAndQuilt.com Shopping Center.
