About Privacy and Online Shopping
We know that some of you are concerned with the security of online shopping and your privacy. So are we. That's why we have done everything to make shopping online at SewAndQuilt.Com safe and secure. Please read on for more details.
Online Shopping and Security
Online shopping is more secure than any other form of shopping where credit cards are used. Here's why:
- When we ask for your credit card number, the connection between your computer and our Web site becomes secure.
- Your credit card information is never made visible to anyone, including us.
Secure connections means that, when enabled (usually, just before you enter your credit card or other payment information) data sent to and from our Web server is encrypted. A credit card number such as "4111-1111-1111-1111 | 08-04" would be sent as "K9-Lkp[s0pla08-Iji&0kKPa98655ajks8(akjals8a0s" or something like that.
Even after your encrypted credit card information is received by our Web server, we don't see it. It is passed directly to a credit-card clearing house (we use the Verisign service) where it is scrutinized then authorized by machine to protect You from fraud. The credit-card clearing house then sends us an acknowledgment of the transaction (and only the last four digits of the card for tracking purposes) so we can process your order.

Privacy
We also understand your concerns about privacy. Our short and to-the-point privacy policy is: We will not sell, transfer, share or otherwise convey any information about you to any other company without informing you in advance. Sites maintained by corporate affiliates of SewAndQuilt.com maintain their own Privacy and Security policies.
Membership
Customers may choose to become a SewAndQuilt.com member. The information is used only to streamline the customer's shopping experience by filling in the shipping and billing information automatically on a customer order. Information is password protected and is kept private. Membership information can be corrected online by the member or by contacting customer service.
Cookies
There is a technology called "cookies" which can be used to provide you with tailored information from a Web site. A cookie is a tiny bit of data that a Web site can send to your browser, to anonymously identify your browser to the Web site. You can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, giving you the chance to decide to accept it.
We may use cookies to make your shopping experience easier. For example, it can be used to tell our system to pre-load your shipping address or Email name (if you have entered it on a previous visit) so you need not re-type all of this information. For security reasons, we do not use it to store any payment information.

Email addresses are required so that we may respond to your requests. We do not rent, sell or otherwise transfer your Email addresses to third parties for unsolicited Email communications. What data is collected?
Your privacy is carefully guarded at SewAndQuilt.com. While we must retain your name, address, Email address and other information to process your orders, we do not share this information with others. We also keep track of the products you purchase, but we do not aggregate this information.
